Ryan - Job Seeker - HVAC
Ryan, a hopeful HVAC apprentice
and apprenticesearch.com user from Burlington, has completed two separate one-year
courses at Mohawk College in Stoney Creek in preparation for a career in the
trades. The first course, titled
Utility
Systems Operator, covered a broad range of topics including Heating,
Refrigeration, and Gas Compression. Ryan's second completed course through
Mohawk was the Gas and Oil II Technician.
Ryan is motivated to become an HVAC apprentice and then a fully licensed technician, and has been pursuing his goal to find a career in the skilled trades since he graduated high school. Following graduation from High school, Ryan began to work as a general labourer and had an opportunity for exposure to a number of different trades. Of these trades, HVAC was most appealing, and he has since set his sights on an apprenticeship in that field, taking college courses to better prepare himself.
Aside from work, Ryan spends his spare time enjoying various sports and outdoor activities, as well as spending time with friends and family.
The courses that Ryan completed at Mohawk College helped to reinforce his pursuit of an HVAC apprenticeship, as he successfully completed a variety of tasks requiring a great amount of hands-on work and mechanical problem solving. He also gained a practical knowledge of the assembly and disassembly of the mechanical components included in gas and oil furnaces, as well as some electrical techniques. From past work experience, Ryan has had to troubleshoot and correct problems with the mechanical devices he has used.
In terms of motivation and dedication to his task and trade, Ryan is looking to give 100% of his effort to learning and honing his craft, and becoming a certified technician. He seeks an employer that is willing to give equal dedication to assisting him in achieving his Certificate of Qualifications.
