Apprenticeship Bursary Application

A bursary of $1000 will be awarded to an applicant who is pursuing a career in the skilled trades through apprenticeship. The recipient must demonstrate an understanding of the value of apprenticeship as a training method and the skilled trades as a viable career choice.

Criteria:

Bursary applications will be accepted as of Monday, March 2, 2009
All applications must be received no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, May 15, 2009
Applicant must currently be living in the Niagara area; either Grimsby, Beamsville, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Dunnville or smaller communities within these areas. Applicants may work outside of Niagara.
Applicant must be 16 years of age or older
Applicant must be pursuing a career as a skilled tradesperson through apprenticeship training and one of the following:
- Enrolled in grade 12 and registered through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
- Currently attending a pre-apprenticeship or skilled trades training program at a college level
- An employed registered apprentice
- An unemployed registered apprentice seeking an employer sponsor
- A skilled individual, unemployed, or employed outside the trade, and seeking an employer sponsor
