Apprenticeship Bursary Application
A bursary of $1000 will be awarded to an applicant who is pursuing a career in the skilled trades through apprenticeship. The recipient must demonstrate an understanding of the value of apprenticeship as a training method and the skilled trades as a viable career choice.
Criteria:
- Bursary applications will be accepted as of Monday, March 2, 2009
- All applications must be received no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, May 15, 2009
- Applicant must currently be living in the Niagara area; either Grimsby, Beamsville, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland, Thorold, Port Colborne, Fort Erie, Dunnville or smaller communities within these areas. Applicants may work outside of Niagara.
- Applicant must be 16 years of age or older
- Applicant must be pursuing a career as a skilled tradesperson through apprenticeship training and one of the following:
- Enrolled in grade 12 and registered through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
- Currently attending a pre-apprenticeship or skilled trades training program at a college level
- An employed registered apprentice
- An unemployed registered apprentice seeking an employer sponsor
- A skilled individual, unemployed, or employed outside the trade, and seeking an employer sponsor
