Norris takes first at Canada Day Race

Tim Norris was a little nervous going into the Canada Day races. A week before the event, he spoke plainly about his desire to pull out a victory at the Flamboro Speedway. "Everyone's coming that weekend," he said. "I'm going to have all sorts of family and friends there." Never wanting to disappoint those rooting for him, Tim added: "It would be really great to do well this one."

Any concern turned out to be unfounded, however, as Tim's July 1st performance was as fantastic as holiday fireworks. He sped over the finish line in the final race to capture a career- and season-best first place finish in the feature. After an exciting race that had the crowd on the edge of their seat, Tim took the lead in the final lap and held it until the very end.

Afterwards, Tim was in high spirits, posing for pictures with family, friends and other race fans, including Marilyn Fish, administrative and events coordinator for the Halton Industry Education Council, the organization behind apprenticesearch.com, and her family. "Everyone get in this picture," he joked, "because who knows when this will happen again!"

Tim had the chance at a repeat victory this past weekend at Mosport Speedway, and goes again July 16 at Peterborough.
