What Does a Mould or Die Finisher Do?

Mould or Die Finishers use a variety of power and hand tools to shape, smooth, finish, and polish moulds or metal working dies.

What Preparation and Training Do You Need?

To become a Mould or Die Finisher Maker you must complete your secondary school diploma (Grade 12) , preferably with senior credits in science, and math, before entering an apprenticeship of 4,000 hours (a combination of on-the-job and in-school courses). 

What’s Your Future as a Mould or Die Finisher?

Mould or Die Finishers generally work full time, sometimes in shift work, for parts or other manufacturing companies, or in production or machine shops. Shift work may be required, and overtime may be necessary to meet production deadlines. The skills of this trade are portable and could also be used in Mould Making, Tool & Die or Machining.
